Christmas Card Design Contest
Wiregrass Electric offers an opportunity for students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade to design the Wiregrass Electric Christmas Card. Artwork provided by the students is judged by a committee of WEC employees and board of trustees, and the overall winner’s design appears on the December issue of Alabama Living magazine and the Co-op's Christmas card that is mailed to friends and associates of WEC.
The 2011 winner is Mary Peyton Mullin, a second grade student at Houston Academy in Dothan. Mary Peyton's parents are Philip and Amy Mullin, and her art teacher at Houston Academy is Ms. Majure.
Wiregrass Electric Christmas Card Art Contest Rules:
- This contest is open to any student living in the Wiregrass area.
- Only students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade are eligible to participate.
- Artwork must be approximately 8-1/2” x 11” in size – do not fold artwork.
- Artwork should be of a Christmas theme.
- Artwork must be an original creation of the child.
- Artwork should be in color (markers, crayons, paint, etc.).
- This entry form or a reasonable facsimile signed by parent or guardian must be enclosed with artwork.
- Artwork must be turned in by the October 21 deadline.
- Only one entry per child.
Mary Peyton Mullin, the first place winner in the 2011 contest, received:
- Front cover of 2011 WEC Christmas Card (credit will be given to the student on the card).
- 25 printed cards with the artwork & envelopes for sharing with family & friends.
- Award Certificate, gift bag and a $50 gift card to Michael’s craft store.
- Student featured on the cover of the December issue of Alabama Living magazine and Website.
2nd and 3rd Place Winners receive:
Award Certificate - $25 gift card to Michael’s craft store.
Second Place:
Nicholas Page is the second place winner from Emmanuel Christian School in Dothan. He is in Ms. Bradshaw's fifth grade class, and his mother is Jennifer Conner.

Third Place:
Maggie Nemish is the third place winner from Providence Christian School in Dothan. She is in Ms. Wynja's fourth grade class, and her parents are Terry and Rhonda Nemish.

One winner from each school receives:
- Award Certificate and prize package.
All entries receive:
- A gift item from Wiregrass Electric. Each student entering in 2011 received a WEC yo-yo.

Box 158, Hartford, AL 36344 (or you may turn in at any Wiregrass Electric office.) Please do not fold the artwork. The deadline to turn in entries is Friday, October 22, 2010.
