Feb. 2010 -- Wiregrass Electric feels the heat from the recent cold snap! -- The Wiregrass area just faced something very unusual -- extremely cold temperatures for South Alabama.

Jan. 2010 -- Wiregrass Electric just got even more reliable -- The new Murphy Mill Substation, located on Brannon Stand Road in Dothan, is now up and running.

Oct. 2009 -- Wiregrass Electric's Annual Meeting -- Not only is this a special year because Wiregrass Electric is celebrating it’s 70th anniversary, but the Co-op is doing something a bit different this year. For the first time, Wiregrass Electric is offering mail-in balloting to the members.

James Parrish Memorial -- Sept. 2009 -- Wiregrass Electric's board president James Parrish passed away on Aug. 28, 2009. He understood the mission of Wiregrass Electric Cooperative and led by example as he worked to do what was in the best interest of the members. He will be missed.

Improving reliability with new substation -- Sept. 2009 -- WEC, with the help of PowerSouth Energy, is taking steps to improve reliability and customer satisfaction with the construction of a new substation in the Dothan area.

Tribute to Archie Enfinger, 57 year veteran of WEC -- June 2009 -- Archie Enfinger, a 57-year lineman with Wiregrass Electric Cooperative, was interviewed in 2006 about changes in the electric industry. Enfinger passed away on May 31, 2009, remembered as the longest-serving employee in WEC history.

WEC Sponsors Youth Tours -- Feb. 2009 -- WEC believes our future is in our youth and sponsors two youth tours each year -- one to Montgomery and one to Washington, D.C.

Wiregrass Electric opens new Dothan office -- Feb. 2009 -- WEC has a convenient location for our members in Houston County.

Wiregrass Electric to handle Houston County Sanitation billing -- Jan. 2009 -- Wiregrass Electric lent a hand to Houston County for billing and collection of sanitation fees.

Wiregrass electric's employees tour Power Plant -- Nov. 2008 -- Instead of having meetings at the office for training, employees were bussed to PowerSouth Energy's Lowman Power Plant on the Tombigbee River near Leroy.
